Sanders Country Store opened in 1984 on the grounds of Old Mayer Plantation. The store stands where once stood an old Victorian house known as the Sanders Doll House. Owned by the Sanders family, it had a small restaurant & the lady of the house made rag dolls and hung them on the oleander bushes along old Tybee Road, part of which still runs in front of the store.
